You can easily make a homemade facial cleanser that would rival any expensive organic cleanser.
Start with four simple ingredients and add as many additional ingredients are you would like.
As you can see from the facial cleanser recipe you can add castile soap if you like a soapier feel. I prefer my cleanser to be soap free.
This cleanser may remove your eye makeup. If it doesn’t it is very beneficial to remove eye makeup with olive, coconut or jojoba oil.
Many of the ingredients below can be purchased from Mountain Rose Herbs.
1/2 cup water
2 TBS aloe vera
2 TBS vegetable glycerin
2 TBS baking soda
Optional Add Ins
2 TBS witch hazel
2 TBS raw honey
1 TBS castile soap
1 tsp calendula extract (anti-inflammatory)
1 tsp chamomile extract (calming)
1 tsp green tea extract (antioxidants)
1 tsp ginger extract (anti-aging)
15 drops peppermint essential oil (refreshing)
15 drops tea tree essential oil (anti-bacterial)
30 drops of lemon, orange or grapefruit essential oil
Mix chosen ingredients together and pour into an clean bottle.
The optional ingredients are really what make the cleanser luxurious and beneficial to the skin. I love the way the peppermint tingles and the refreshing smell. I often leave it on for a few minutes to soak up the benefits from the green tea extract.
If you would like to exfoliate you can add more baking soda. You can also put some sea salt in the blender and grind it to a fine powder. Apply the facial cleanser and then apply the sea salt and gently massage your face.
This facial cleanser will not be very thick. To thicken use 1/2 tsp xanthan gum blended in with a blender or 1/2 tsp of hydroxyethylcellulose purchased from www.lotioncrafter.com.
You can purchase bottles from www.sunburstbottle.com.
This homemade facial cleanser will be all you ever need to clean and refresh your face. I love the way it feels. There is no residue and it does not dry out my skin.
