Acne is a problem most people face and can have many causes. Natural acne treatments are best. It is important to try a lot different things to find what works for you.
Acne is best treated internally and externally. These are some great acne natural remedies.
Skin Care Tips to Alleviate Acne
Drink the right amount of water. The right amount of water varies from person to person. It depends on your body weight, how much you sweat, if you are cold or hot, etc. In colder weather I usually drink less water. Also you may want to add some sea salt or canning salt to your water. I add 1/4 tsp to 4 cups of water. Adding salt to water is very beneficial because it ensures that you don’t dilute your body fluids too much.
Skip the soap and any products that will dry your face out. It sounds crazy but soap strips oils and triggers your skin to produce more oil. There are many alternatives to soap that make good face cleaners. They are: clay (Redmond or kaolin), sea salt and water, glycerin, raw honey and aloe vera. You could mix several of these ingredients together to make your own facial cleanser. Raw honey and clay also make amazing masks. Raw honey is anti-inflammatory and breaks down dead skin with live enzymes. Clay is negatively charged so it can pull toxins out of the skin. You can also rub coconut oil all over your face and wipe it off with a warm wet cloth.
Use vinegar on your face daily. Vinegar will help your skin stay at a healthy pH, around 5.5. Mix 6 parts water with 1 part vinegar and use as a natural toner. Having the right pH helps the skin cell strengthen their lipid barrier and keep out harmful bacteria.
Exfoliate with digestive enzymes. It is important to get rid of the dead skin cells because they are clogging pores and causing buildup in the pore. Enzymes are the perfect exfoliator because they will only break down dead cells. (I learned this from my friend Tracy. He has some great enzymes on his website www.nutranomics.com.) Mechanical exfoliators such as scrubs and microdermabrasion cannot distinguish between dead cells and live cells so they may harm live cells while getting rid of dead cells.
To exfoliate with enzymes you open a capsule of enzymes in your hand. You can mix the enzymes with a moisturizer, water or clay and apply them to your face. Leave on for twenty minutes and rinse. It will also be beneficial for your skin to take the same digestive enzyme internally. Anything that aids the digestive system will result in better skin.
Exfoliate with apple cider vinegar, pineapple, lemon or strawberries. All of these are acidic and contain acids that help break down dead skin cells and unclog pores.
Do a liver cleanse. Most likely, if you have acne your liver is to blame. All kinds of things can build up in your liver mainly toxins and hormones. I personally have not been able to do a liver cleanse due to being pregnant or nursing for the past 4 years. Before that time I took several supplements to help detox my body. If you google liver cleanse, you can find several good suggestions on how to clean your liver. The most simple thing to do is only eat fruits and vegetables for a week with a lot of fresh squeezed lemon water. If you are not up for a liver cleanse there are some great herbal supplements that will help support your liver.
Take activated charcoal. Activated charcoal absorbs toxins all throughout the body and carries them out of the body so they don’t come out of your skin. You can find activated charcoal at most health food stores. Zinc, biotin and collagen are supplements that strengthen skin and help prevent and heal acne. You can also help mobilize and eliminate toxins by taking niacin and then sweating. Visit this link to learn more.
Additionally, most people need more probiotics – the good bacteria. There are many different good bacteria names, you may have heard of acidophilus. My favorite probiotic is FiveLac. It kills candida in the stomach and intestines and supplies good bacteria to aid in digestion. There are many great probiotics available on amazon.
Finally, it may simply be a bacteria in your skin. Most acne products contain benzoyl peroxide, which kills bacteria but is bad for your skin. It may help acne temporarily but it will cause long-term damage in the process. By using a the vinegar toner mentioned about you will keep the pH low enough that the bacteria can’t flourish. Essential oils can also help kill bacteria.
Again, you may have to try many things but acne natural remedies are best and will not cause damage to your skin or body.
